Roger Federer did not do something special to earn an easy victory in his second-round match against the German Andreas Beck, as much has been contributed by the German in the form of unforced errors. Federer won the match on easier note with a 6-3 6-4 6-3 scoreline. Beck piled up substantial errors in each set to make it an easier task in the end for the former world no.1 and allowed Federer to finish the match in one hour and forty two minutes.
Federer earned the break in the second and fourth game of the first set and raced to a 4-0 lead quickly. Though, Beck did surprise the former world no. 1 by breaking back in the seventh game, finally lost the first set with a 3-6 score.

Beck started off well in the second set, but faltered in the fifth game that allow Federer to get the break. The Swiss maintained the lead till the end and went two set up in the match without facing any sort of commendable challenge from the German.
Federer made quick in-roads into the third set by breaking Beck in the first game and again got the break in the ninth game to finish off the match on a high note.
Federer has not dropped a set in the US Open so far. The world no. 2 won his opening match against Brian Dabul in straight sets with a 6-1 6-4 6-2 scoreline.
