Third seeded and 2009 champion Roger Federer needed only two sets to beat David Ferrer of Spain with 6-4, 6-4 scoreline and booked his spot in the semi-finals of 2012 Madrid Open.
Federer secured a early break in the third game of the first set and kept it till the end to wrap the first set 6-4 in his favour.
