Third seeded and 2009 champion Roger Federer needed only two sets to beat David Ferrer of Spain with 6-4, 6-4 scoreline and booked his spot in the semi-finals of 2012 Madrid Open.
Federer secured a early break in the third game of the first set and kept it till the end to wrap the first set 6-4 in his favour.
Match Cast: Federer vs Ferrer.
Both players failed to break each other serve till ninth game wherein Federer got the second break of the match and then successfully served out for the match.
Federer will next face Serbian Janko Tipsarevic in the semi-final, who scored a upset 7-6(2), 6-3 win over World No 1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic earlier in the day.
