Top seeded Sara Errani of Italy extended her unbeaten run on clay to 13 matches on Thursday with a straight set 6-4, 6-0 win over compatriot Alberta Brianti in the quarterfinals of the Budapest Grand Prix.
"It's difficult to play against someone you know well," said Errani. "There was more tension than in a usual match and I think that showed in the first set, which was not too good. I got better in the second set and in the end I was playing well."
Errani will next face Anna Tatishvili, who battled past Aleksandra Wozniak 5-7, 7-6(4), 6-4.
Russian Elena Vesnina defeated Croatia Petra Martic with 6-3, 6-2 scoreline to set up next round clash with Marina Erakovic, who prevailed 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 against Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.
