This is the first career WTA title win for Colombian Mariana Duque Marino who beat fifth-seeded Angelique Kerber of Germany 6-4 6-3 to win the Copa Colsanitas clay court tournament final, here in Bogota, Colombia on Sunday.
It took one hour, 20 minutes for Mariana to wrap up the match, as she won last three games of the first set and then took the second set by winning five of the last six games.
Before this title win, Marino reached the quarterfinal here two years ago. She is the first WTA singles Colombian champion since Fabiola Zuluaga who won five titles in a row from 1999 to 2004.
