Nadal entered the 2008 French Open in great nick. He had won all the tournaments in the build-up to the Grand Slam.
He started of his campaign against Thomas Bellucci in the first round followed by Nicolas Devilder in the second, Jarkko Nieminen in third and then fellow country men Fernano Verdasco in the fourth. Nadal was dominant and absolutely outplayed all the four without dropping a single set. In the quarters, Nadal rolled over countryman Nicolas Almagro in three uncontested sets 6-1,6-1,6-1. Nadal then met Novak Djokovic in the semi final where the Serb was the only man to take the 'king of clay' to a tie-breaker. Nadal won 6-4,6-2,7-6. In the third consecutive final between Roger Federer and Nadal, Nadal thrashed the swiss in three sets.
With that, Nadal became only the fifth man in the Open era to win Grand Slam without dropping a set.
