Croatian Ivan Dodig earned a comprehensive 7-6 (4), 6-1 win over Marcos Baghdatis in the semifinals of 2011 Unicef Open and made it to the final.
After the match, Dodig said, “I was a little bit lucky maybe in the first set. In the second set I was more relaxed and trying to be more aggressive.” In the final, fourth-seeded Dodig will face unseeded Dmitry Tursunov, who beat third-seeded Xavier Malisse 6-3, 7-6 (1) in the other semifinal.
In the women’s matches, Roberta Vinci of Italy beat Dominika Cibulkova 7-5, 6-1 to meet Jelena Dokic in the final. Dokic was leading with a 6-4, 2-0, when Romina Oprandi injured her left wrist and had to pull out of their semifinal match.
