Novak Djokovic has pulled out from the Los Angeles Open starting from the next week, citing personal reasons. Tournament director Bob Kramer announced on Friday that Djokovic withdrew from the Farmers Classic because of personal reasons.
On the other hand, Czech Radek Stepanek and 2007 winner of the LA Open has also withdrawn from the tournament because of a knee injury.
Now that Djokovic has withdrawn from the LA Open, fourth-ranked Andy Murray, who received a wild card entry to the tournament, will be seeded No. 1 when play starts on Monday in Los Angeles.
Defending champion Sam Querrey is seeded No. 2 and Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus is No. 3.
Tournament director Bob Kramer quoted in a statement, “It’s certainly disappointing to lose players like Novak and Radek.” He further added, “We were looking forward to Novak making his debut in LA, but we’re very fortunate that Andy Murray, another top-five player, will be able to join us.”
