Second seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic led Russian and arch rival Mikhail Youzhny by a set and a break when mother-nature played her part and continued rain and bad weather forced the organizers to abandon the championship match.

Djokovic made a bad start to the match and lost his serve early on. Although to the Russian's surprise, Djokovic broke back and after another trade of service breaks, grabbed an elusive one in the 12th game to seal the opening set by 7 games to 5. The second set started on a favourable note for the defending champion who pocketed a crucial break in the second game to build a formidable lead.
Although, just when the Serbian star looked close to victory, heavy rain started pouring in and caused the suspension of the match. As weather continued to play spoil sport, the tournament organisers decided to abandon the match. The play will resume on Sunday at 2 pm local time with Djokovic leading the match 7-5, 2-0.
