Serbian star Novak Djokovic dashed the American dreams of a home champion when he overwhelmed a resurgent Mardy Fish in front of a capacity crowd to reach the quarterfinals of the 2010 US Open, the season's last grand slam event being played here in New York, USA.

Djokovic made a fine start to the match and broke Fish's serve in the second game to eventually complete the first set by 6 games to 3. The second set did not change the story much as with a break of serve in the fifth game, the Serbian star raced to a two sets to love lead in the match.
The third set saw a cushion break in Djokovic's hands from the very first service game after which he completely overwhelmed Fish with his blistering groundstrokes and fine net game to complete the 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 win just 110 minutes of play.
Earlier in the day, 17th seed Gael Monfils survived an all-French battle by defeating compatriot Richard Gasquet with a 6-4, 7-5, 7-5 scoreline.
