Djokovic cruises, Tomic loses at US Open
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic completely outplayed World No. 75 Carlos Berlocq of Argentina in every department of the game and dispatched him in straight sets with a 6-0 6-0 6-2 scoreline to reach the third-round of the 2011 US Open. On the other, the Australian teenager Bernard Tomic vowed out of the tournament.

Top-seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia proved too quick and devastating for the World No. 75 Carlos Berlocq of Argentina in a second-round match of the 2011 US Open. Well, the Serbian registered a lop-sided 6-0 6-0 6-2 victory over Berlocq and stormed into the third-round, here at Flushing Meadows. In the fourth round, Djokovic will take on former World No. 3 Nikolay Davydenko of Russia, who registered a straight sets 6-2 6-4 7-5 victory over Italian Potito Starace to come this far in the tournament.

Djokovic needed just 1 and half hour to finish this match. The Serbian fired 5 aces and hammered 31 winners, while Berlocq committed 23 unforced errors. In the end, Djokovic converted 9 out of 17 break points. Djokovic did not allow the Argentine to win a single game in first two sets, but Berlocq played really well to avoid a third-set bagel and broke the Serbian twice – but in the end, he could not match-up with Djokovic’s consummate range of shots and swiftness on court.

Re-live the excitement of this duel!

It was a bagel in the first set, as Djokovic completely outplayed the Argentine Berlocq and won it easily with a 6-0. Well, it was one-way-traffic in the first set, as the top-seed took only 20 minutes to win it.  Berlocq committed 4 double-faults and 6 unforced errors. Well, Djokovic hammered 9 winners and converted 3 out of 4 break points to run away with the first set.

Second-set also ended up with the same result – with Berlocq conceding another Bagel. Well, this time, Djokovic took 29 minutes to win the second-set, as he earned 73% points on his first serve, hammered 13 massive winners and converted 3 out of 8 break points.  Berlocq did not have a break point in the second-set. The Argentine did well to snatch away two games from Djokovic in the third-set, but finally lost a one-sided battle.

In another awaited match of the day, Croat Marin Cilic won 6-1, 6-0, 6-2 against teenager Bernard Tomic of Australia in just one hour and 20 minutes and stormed into the third-round of the US Open. In the third-round, Cilic will take on third-seed Roger Federer.
