Top seeded Novak Djokovic of Serbia was forced to dug deep against Czech Tomas Berdych and prevailed 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in three hard fought sets to book his place in the final of 2012 Monte Carlo Masters.
Both players displayed high quality tennis in the first set and thrilled crowd with breath taking rallies. No breaks were exchanged till the sixth game where Djokvic stepped on the pedal and secured the first break in the set. However he failed to held his serve in the next game and got himself broken to love.
Match Cast: Djokovic vs Berdych.
Djokovic, who looked a bit lost after losing the lead, played poor tennis at 5-4 and allowed Berdych to strike for the second time in the set. Berdych faced a tough challenge while serving for the set as he had to save a break point en-route to first set lead in the match.
The Serbian bounced back strongly in the second set and raced to 3-0 lead in the set. He kept the single break lead till the end to take the match into a deciding set.
Djokovic continued to roll with the momentum in the deciding set also as he cruised to 4-0 lead and then closed the set 6-2.
He will next face the winner of second semi-final to be played between defending champion Rafael Nadal and Frenchman Gilles Simon.
