Russian Nikolay Davydenko in his quest to grab a spot in the World tour Finals registered a comprehensive 6-2 6-1 victory over Alejandro Falla of Columbia at the Valencia Open on Monday.
Seeded second Davydenko dominated all through the match, broke Colombian Falla five times to set up next round clash with the winner of match between Juan Monaco or Martin Vassallo Arguello.
Also, Tomas Berdych defated Paul-Henri Mathieu of France 6-3 6-4 to advance into the next round.
Other winnners of the day were, Albert Montanes who battled past fellow countryman Roberto Bautista-Agut 6-1 3-6 6-4 and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain edged past Simon Greul of Germany 7-5 6-2.
