The top-seeded Russian Nikolay Davydenko continued to perform better at the ATP Studena Croatia Open. The defending champion easily defeated Stephane Robert with a 6-1 6-2 scoreline and reached the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
In the quarterfinals, Davydenko will meet the Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela, who rallied past the Italian qualifier Simone Bolelli with a 7-6 (5) 6-7 (4) 6-1 scoreline.
In another match, the 2009 finalist Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero defeated Pablo Cuevas with a 4-6 6-4 6-4 scoreline and registered his 25th clay-court victory of the season. After the match, Ferrero said, ''I expected a tough match. I beat him in three straight sets in May at Roland Garros, but it was tough. So I was ready.''
Alexandr Dolgopolov beat wild card entrant Franco Skugor with a 7-6 (1) 6-3 scoreline.
