Nikolay Davydenko slimmed fifth seed Gilles Simon chances to qualify for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals with an enthralling 3 set victory over the Frenchmen at the Valencia Open 500 on Monday

Simon, ranked 12^th in the ATP Year-To-Date Rankings is next playing the BNP Paribas Masters,in his country , the last ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament of the season . With a dismal 39-26 win loss record Simon has hampered his chances to qualify for the season ending championships

Fabio Fognini beat Spanish wild card Daniel Gimeno-Traver convincingly 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 10 minutes to move to the next round. Qualifier Nicolas Mahut also stepped into the next round with a straight sets win Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

In another exciting match qualifier Vasek Pospisil shocked everyone by pushing aside World No. 23 John Isner in a match that lasted for more than 2 hours. Vasek showed tremendous grit when he saved a match point in the final set tie break to beat the American.

Vasek now awaits the winner of the match between 2 Spaniards , top seed and defending champion David Ferrer and the south paw Fernando Verdasco.
