He looked unstoppable in the third set as he raced to 5-0 and wrapped it 6-1.
Davydenko, still struggling with a wrist injury suffered in Rotterdam this month, admitted his performance was error marked.
"Too many mistakes from me,"said Davydenko,"I had so many chances to make a break in the second set and win maybe more easily."
Earlier in the day, sixth seeded Marin Cilic of Crotia eased past Frenchman Arnaud Clement 6-2 6-4 in straight sets.
Another Frenchman Jo-wilfried Tsonga moved ahead in the tournament after his compatriot Michael Llodra retired midway with an injury while trailing a set down in the match.
In other matches of the day, Indian qualifier Somdev Devvarman ousted Switzerland's Marco Chiudinelli 6-4 7-5 and Spaniard Tommy Robredo defeated France's Julien Benneteau 6-2 6-1.
