Gunning for his fourth title of the 2012 season, top seeded David Ferrer of Spain will take on German qualifier Philipp Petzschner in the final match of the 2012 UNICEF Open.
Ferrer opened the year in brilliant fashion as he became the first man on the ATP World Tour to win three titles in 2012 season. Ferrer triumphed in Auckland in the beginning of the season and then claimed two titles on clay in Buenos Aires and Acapulco. Ferrer is one of the most consistent contenders on tour and has a very good 41-8 win-loss record for 2012 so far and he is bidding for his 15th career title.
His opponent: Philipp Petzschner entered the tournament with poor 3-8 win loss record this year but has improved with three wins here en route to this final. He is attempting to become the lowest-ranked winner this season and the second qualifier to win a title. Earlier Jarkko Nieminen won the Sydney title in January as a qualifier.
This is the first meeting between the two players.
