David Ferrer beats qualifier Adrian Ungur in Acapulco opener
Defending champion David Ferrer made a strong start to his title defense in Acapulco with a comfortable victory over Romanian Adrian Ungur.

 

Top seeded David Ferrer ousted Romanian qualifier Adrian Ungur 6-1, 6-3 and opened his title defence with a win at Abierto Mexicano Telcel, Acapulco.

He next faces wild card entrant Santiago Gonzalez, who edged past contryman and another wild card entrant Daniel Garza 6-3, 7-6(5).

Sixth-seeded Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov defeated Chilean Paul Capdeville 7-5, 6-2. Colombian Santiago Giraldo battled past Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.
