Daniel Brands outplays Gael Monfils at the Qatar Open
German Daniel Brands came out all guns blazing as he brushed aside Gael Monfils in straight sets to book a place in the semi-finals of the Qatar Open.

Qualifier Daniel Brands continued his dream run at the Qatar Open after he cruised past Frenchman Gael Monfils in straight sets 6-1, 7-5 in just over an hour. With this victory the German booked a place in the semi-finals.

Brands started the match superbly, taking the opening set in 25 minutes. The German took full advantage of a visibly struggling Monfils as he smacked 9 winners and broke the Frenchman's serve twice on two given opportunities. Monfils on the other hand was rustic too, hitting 10 unforced errors.
