Kim Clijsters stepped on court to play Jelena Dokic from Australia in the Quarterfinal match of the Open GDF SUEZ being held in Paris. The experienced Belgian had pressure mounting as a match win was giving her a benefit of becoming number one and the advantage to entering the semi-final.
Cljsters lost momentum at the start of the match as she displayed an erratic game and lost three games in a row as Dokic seemed to be getting all the flow. Clijsters then got back on track with hammered forehands and lightening first serves. She took the next six games to clinch the first set 6-3 and went on to take the next 6 games of the second set. She obtained 12 continuous games after a three game loss to achieve the number one spot among the WTA rankings and a place in the semi-finals.
