Third-seeded Marin Cilic of Croatia moved into the final of the Chennai Open with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Marcel Granollers of Spain .Cilic made the most of his chances by converting four of five break point opportunities and only dropping his own serve once in the 1hr., 11min., tennis match.
“It was my best match so far,” said Cilic. “I’m hitting the ball well, feeling happy with way I’m playing.”
In the final he will face Indian wild card Somdev Devvarman, who advanced to his first ATP World Tour final after his semi-final opponent - German fifth seed Rainer Schuettler - withdrew with a left wrist injury.“Tomorrow’s my first chance to win a title,” Devvarman said. “It’s disappointing to come through to the final in this manner, but I look forward to my first final"
“Tomorrow’s final could be like playing an away Davis Cup match with the home crowd getting behind (Devvarman),” Cilic said.
