Chile reaches Davis Cup quarter-finals

Chilean Fernando Gonzalez defeated Dudi Sela of Israel in the Davis Cup tie and booked the place in Davis Cup quarter-finals.

 

Fernando Gonzalez of Chile took his country into the Davis Cup quarterfinals after he defeated Dudi Sela of Israel 6-4 6-4 6-3 to give the South Americans an unassailable 3-1 lead in the best of five matches tie on Monday.

In the second inconsequential match of the day Jorge Aguilar of Chile beat Harel Levy of Israel 7-6 (3) 6-1.

Just a few weeks ago Chile was hit by a devastating earthquake due to which the tie was scheduled to start on saturday. The tie was played in Coquimbo.

Chile will confront the Czech Republic in the next round.
