Former World No 1 and third seeded Caroline Woznaicki of Denmark takes on Swede Sofia Arvidsson in the pre-quarterfinal clash of New Haven Open, Yale on Monday
World No.8 Caroline Wozniacki has not had the best year so far with a win-loss record of 28-15. She is still in the hunt for her first title of 2012. With some really bad losses to her lower ranked opponents, Wozniacki has seen a dip in her ranking, which was No.1 when this year started. Her performance at Wimbledon recently was nothing great as she lost in the opening round. But since then she has bounced back strongly as he reached the quarter-finals in Olympics and last week reached the semis of Rogers Cup. Last week at Cincinnati Open, she lost to Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the pre-quarterfinal clash.
Her opponent - Sofia Arvidsson has a good year as she won her second WTA title of her career in Memphis early this year and has had a decent 23-17 win-loss record coming into this match. Presently ranked at No.51 on the WTA charts, Arvidsson has had some good runs this year and would be hoping to crack into Top-50 spot.
Both the players have met seven times before and Wozniacki leads 5-2 in head to head series.
