World No.8 and third seeded Caroline Woznaicki of Denmark has not had the best year so far with a win-loss record of 28-15. She is still in the hunt for her first title of 2012. With some really bad losses to her lower ranked opponents, Wozniacki has seen a dip in her ranking, which was No.1 when this year started. Her performance at Wimbledon recently was nothing great as she lost in the opening round. But since then she has bounced back strongly as he reached the quarter-finals in Olympics and last week reached the semis of Rogers Cup. Last week at Cincinnati Open, she lost to Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the pre-quarterfinal clash.
Her opponent and World No. 13 Dominika Cibulkova has an ordinary 28-21 win-loss record for the season and won her second-career title at Carlsbad this year. Earlier this year, she finshed as runner-up at Barcelona Open and then reached QF at Roland Garros. She then made into the quarter-finals of both 's-Hertogenbosch and Stanford.
Both players have met met 10 times before and Wozniacki leads 7-3 in head to head record.
