World No.9 Wozniacki has struggled a lot this year and would be aiming to prove all her critics wrong by winning her maiden Grand Slam. Her win-loss record at 20-10 shows how much trouble she has faced to perform this year. She has not been able to sustain her No.1 ranking, something she started 2012 with. Her game is now getting predictable as players now know how to tackle her game style by just hitting the ball harder and making her move a lot.
On the other side of the court, Kanepi, has already won 2 titles this year and has an impressive 16-6 win-loss record so far this year. Her titles at Brisbane International and Estoril Open show that she is an all court player and knows her way around on all surfaces. Presently ranked at 23 in the World, Kanepi is looking to rise up the rankings and challenge the big guns more. Her heavy ground strokes can give anyone a run for their money.
The two have played 4 times before with the Dane leading 3-1. They played twice last year and split the meetings. It will be interesting to who wins this match. The Kanepi 's hard hitting or the Woznaicki's scrambling?
