Danish No.1 Caroline Wozniacki is all set to lock horns with Germany's Angelique Kerber in the second round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix today.
World No.6 Wozniacki has had an erratic year so far and would be looking to make amends in the on-going event. She started the year at the Sydney International where she lost in the quarterfinal to Agnieszka Radwanska. In the only Grand Slam this year - the Australian Open, she lost to Belgian veteran Kim Clijsters at the same stage. Her best result this year came in the recently concluded E-Boks Open where she finished second behind Kerber. Her win/loss record this year stands at 17/7.
While Kerber has showed glimpses of genius at times, she has also flattered to deceive at others. The German has definitely had her best season since she turned pro. She does however need to get consistency in her game to be at par with the
best. She won her first major this year at Paris(Indoors) in February and reached the semifinals at Auckland, Hobart and then at Indian Wells also. In the recently concluded E-Boks Open she clinched her second WTA title.
Their head to head record stands at 2-1 in favor of the Dane, but purely on the basis of form and the fact that she is playing in her home country, Kerber surely has to be the favorite for this one.
