Bopanna-Qureshi will battle against the Bryans in US Open Mens' Doubles final

WASHINGTON - AUGUST 06: Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi (R) of Pakistan shakes hands with teammate Rohan Bopanna of India after defeating Bob Bryan and teammate Mike Bryan of the USA 7-6(8),7-5 during their quarterfinal match on day 5 of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic at the William H.G. India and Pakistan have a similar reason to be happy about. Their battling tennis players have made it big at the best level in the game. Rohan Bopanna from India and Pakistan's Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi have battled out the best in Mens' doubles to enter the finals. The Asian team managed to surpass Eduardo Schwank and Horacio Zeballos in two tightly fought sets in the semifinals to give themselves an opportunity to enter into the Arthur Ashe Stadium for their final.

The Indo-Pak team are seeded at number 16 in the tournament and obtained a few upsets before reaching the final to meet the Bryan Brothers. The Bryans brothers defeated the Spanish team Marcel Granollers and Tommy Robredo 6-1, 6-4 on Wednesday.

Bopanna and Qureshi have asserted aggression on every possible match as they have reached the final without dropping a single set.

This wonderful team from neighbouring countries have been dispalying world class performances for some time now. Their streak started with final appearences at Nice and Casablanca. They also captured the ATP doubles title at Johannesburg at the begining of this year. Then came in a quarterfinals appearence at Wimbledon. They continued that same form and made it to the finals of the Pilot Pen Open right before the US Open. Bopanna and Qureshi also have the experience of beating the Bryans at Washington this year.

It is a matter of pride for both the countries to have these players playing and having the citizens of the countries to come together to cheer them on for a win. The unity of the players are commendable as they have been friends for almost 10 years now'..

A content Bopanna said, 'We are glad that they were here today to watch our match'

'I think in the first couple of rounds we felt we played some Americans, and it felt like there were more Pakistanis and Indians than Americans out there. But I'm sure for the Bryans that's going to be different. But, you know, still I think we will have a fair amount of support there.'

'We are really looking forward to it. New York is a great place to play. Bryans obviously will have the support, but they know we have played enough Davis Cup ties to feel that pressure. You know, being completely against us here, at least we have some support with Pakistanis and Indians coming out and cheering us.

We just have to block out everyone out there, and, you know, play our game and just focus on the tennis,' said the 30-year-old Indian.

Qureshi exclaimed that it was a dream come true for him.

'I actually feel like it's a dream. Last night I couldn't sleep till 6:00 in the morning, and it's been a great, unbelievable journey. I can't thank Rohan enough to be my partner and playing with me. I really feel very lucky to have a partner and friend like him. Pakistan has been going through a lot for the last two or three years from all the terrorist attacks and the flooding now for the last few months and the cricket scandal, also. I'm just very happy and proud that I can send positive news back home for people to cheer about. It's just been an unbelievable journey, and I just hope I keep winning matches for Pakistan and can hopefully get either one of these titles or both titles back home.'
