Currently ranked as World No. 32 in the ATP Rankings, Bernard Tomic of Australia will take on World No. 51 Santiago Giraldo of Colombia to secure his berth in the second-round of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, an ATP World Tour 1000 Masters Event, being played here in Rome, Italy.

Top Australian Tomic has a decent 16-10 win-loss record this season and he is chasing his maiden title on tour. The Australian reached the semis in Brisbane, where he lost to Andy Murray.  After that he made it to the quarterfinal at Delray Beach. He has an ordinary 4-4 win-loss record this season – on clay.

Tomic’s opponent Santiago Giraldo is currently ranked as World No. 51 in the ATP Rankings. The Colombian has a decent 16-12 win-loss record this season and he is also chasing his maiden title on tour. The Colombian likes to play on clay and earlier this season he reached the semis at Acapulco, where he lost to eventual champion David Ferrer. He has a 9-7 win-loss record on red-soil.

This will be a first meeting between these two contenders and both look at par with each other – amidst present circumstances.
