In the opening round of the BMW Open in Munich, Austratlia No.1 Bernard Tomic takes on Oliver Rochus of Belgium.
Tomic started off the year well as he reached the semifinals of the season opening Brisbane International in Australia. He did reasonably well at the Australian Open reaching the round of 16 where he was defeated by Roger Federer. Since then however, he has been on a downward spiral and his best result came at Delray Beach where he was ousted by the ever-rising John Isner. His win/loss record this year stands at 14/8. The BMW Open presents him with the opportunity to make a name for himself as he comes in as the fifth seed in this particular tournament.
The Belgian World No.66 started off the year at Chennai where he was upset early. Drawing inspiration from that, he went to Auckland to play the Heineken Open where he did considerably well to reach the final only to be undone by World No.5 David Ferrer. He continued to play well and in Memphis as he reached the quarterfinal too. Since then though, his form started declining yet once more. He reached a year high rank of 48 in February after starting the year as a the World No.67, he is now back at 66. His Win/loss record stands at 8/11.
This will be the first meeting between the two and World No.33 - Tomic is surely the favorite for this one.
