Fourth seeded Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic defeated Dmitry Tursunov of Russia to reach the quarterfinals of World Tennis Tournament, Rotterdam on Thursday.

Both players looked good in the middle from the start and held to their serves with ease. At 5-4, Tursunov took a medical break before serving to stay in the match. He struggled to keep the ball in play in the game and got himself broken to love to gift one set lead to Berdych.

In the second set, Berdych displayed the same kind of form as of first set but went completely off the boil in the fifth game and gifted the break to Russian, who maintaned the break till the end of set.
No breaks were exchanged in the third set till 6-5, when Tursunov failed to serve to stay in the match and lost the match in three sets.
In his first quarterfinal appearance Berdych will face Frenchman Jo Wilfried Tsonga.
