Frenchmen Julien Benneteau and Richard Gasquet won the bronze medal on Saturday at the London 2012 Olympics Tennis Doubles Event. The French duo beat Spaniards David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez in straight sets with a 7-6(4), 6-2 scoreline on Court One at the All England Club, Wimbledon. The match lasted 79 minutes.
The French pair faced stiff resistance from the Spaniards in the first set but second-set was an easy affair for them. Both contenders complimented each other very well with some powerful groundstrokes and did not allow the Spaniard to make a comeback after losing the first set.
After the match Benneteau said, "It means a lot. I just said to Richard that, at the moment, I don't believe it. We have the medal; we have it for life, so it's something special. For me this is a very huge thing to have [won] an Olympic medal. It's amazing. For France, it is a good day today."
Gasquet added, "It's incredible. We have the medal for all of our life. It's crazy for us. We did it so it's incredible, but we don't believe it now."
