The final of the 2009 Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions has turned out to be an all-French affair as both Marion Bartoli and Aravane Rezai now take their chances to end the year on a bright note.
Top seed and former Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli brushed aside the challenge of Japanese veteran Kimiko Date Krumm 6-1, 6-3 to reach the final of the 2009 Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions, being played here in Bali, Indonesia.
Bartoli looked in total control of the match, right from the start and completed the straight sets victory in 85 minutes of play. Her opponent in the final is countrywoman Aravane Rezai, who took out an in-form Spaniard Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in the other semifinal.
Rezai started the match well and pocketed the opening set 6-2 without much ado. The second set did see the Frenchwoman fend off some resistance from the Spaniard, however it was not enough to push the match into the decider as Rezai completed the 6-2, 6-3 win in just 64 minutes to reach the biggest final of her career at the inaugural event in Bali.
