Though, she was ousted in the Wimbledon semis, Belarusian Victoria Azarenka will reclaim her No. 1 WTA Ranking on Monday. She will take over this numer-uno ranking from the Russian Maria Sharapova because Agnieszka Radwanska failed to win the Wimbledon title.
The Belarusian will return to the top, when the rankings will be released on Monday. Sharapova overtook Azarenka last month after winning the French Open title.
According to the new rankings, Radwanska will be No. 2 in the new list. Radwanska would have become No. 1 for the first time in her career if she had beaten Serena Williams in Saturday's Wimbledon final, but she lost in three sets with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 scoreline.
On the other hand, Azarenka lost to Serena Williams in the semi-finals. But, the Belarusian claimed the Aussie Open title earlier this season and she also enjoyed a 26-match winning streak – this is the reason why she will be the No. 1 again.
