After her defeat to Serena Williams yesterday, Victoria Azarenka came back fighting today as she played some good tennis to over come Chinese Li Na in straight sets here at the WTA season-ending championships in Istanbul. The Belarusian took the match in straight sets winning 7-6(4),6-3. With that win, Azarenka booked her place in the final four.
Discipline was the key word in that set, as neither player could consistently be disciplined in it. Both players continued to make errors at crucial junctures, not taking the initiative. After an early break of serve, Li looked in control but threw it away to find herself level at 4-4. She broke Vika in the very next game, to have the chance of serving for the set. The Chinese however couldn't take the pressure and served two double faults to find her trailing 6-5 and serving to stay in the set, she did well to hold her nerve as we went to the tie break. The World No.1 then went on to take the tie break to 4.

The second set was a bit of an anticlimax as Li faded away quicker than expected. The Chinese continued to make errors at crucial junctures and found herself 5-1 down in a blink of an eye. The right hander saved some face by taking two games to take the score to 3-5, but couldn't hang on in the end as Azarenka clinched the set 6-3.

No where near Vika's best performance, but she got the job done. She can not be that patchy against Maria today. The serve really needs to sort itself.
