World No.1 Victoria Azarenka has had a stunning 2012. Having started the year as the No.3 in the world, the Belarusian made the top spot her's this year with the kind of sublime tennis she played this afternoon in Linz against Julia Goerges as she walked to yet another WTA title this year. With that win, the right hander made it six titles for the year.
This was the Belarusian's ninth final of 2012, another stunning statistic revealed that the World No.1 has not dropped a single set since her US Open final defeat to Serena Williams.
The World No.1 appeared to be in a hurry as she finished the match 6-3,6-4. It was Azarenka's fourteenth career title.
Azarenka's 2012 trophy haul began with her first Grand Slam in Australia, with follow up victories in Sydney, Doha and Indian Wells.
Apart from a brief spell as No.2 in the World, following a dismal performance at Roland Garros, Azarenka has been World No.1 all year, and thorughly deserves to end the year as the top ranked player in the world.
