World No.1 Victoria Azarenka came back from first set loss to beat reigning French Open champion Li Na in the quarter-final match of 2012 Madrid Open with 3-6, 6-3, 6-3  scoreline. 

Both players looked good in the start and no breaks of serve were exchanged till 4-2 where Li Na broke Azarenka for the first time in the set and kept the distance till the end to wrap the first set 6-3.

The Chinese player broke Azarenka in the opening game to the second set and it looked she might post the upset of the day. However Azarenka had some other plans as she broke back in the next game and then for another time at 3-1 to push the match into a deciding set.

The Belarusian upped the level of her play in the third set and raced to 4-0 lead. Li Na made a comeback in the set and won next three games to reduce the distance to one break. However Li Na got herself broken once again while serving to stay in the match and lost the match in three sets.

Azarenka will next face either Agnieszka Radwanska or Varvara Lepchenko.
