Brother’s duo of Andy and Jamie Murray of Great Britain disappointed their home fans on Saturday, as they lost to Austrian pair of Jurgen Melzer and Alexander Peya in the Olympic doubles event.
The British brothers made a fine start to the match and also won the first set, but then they missed out easy opportunities in the crucial second-set tie-break. Consequently, the British duo lost the match. The Austrian won this duel with a 5-7 7-6 (8-6) 7-5 scoreline.
But, another Briton Elena Baltacha made a fine start in her Olympic debut match as she earned a straight sets 6-3 6-4 singles win over Agnes Szavay of Hungary.
After the match Andy Murray asserted “We had enough chances to win the match, each time we got the break we got broken straight back, so it was tough.” He further added that "We were a break up twice in the third set. We had enough chances to win the match, but each time we got the break we got broken straight back, so it was tough."
When asked about the crowd’s response, Andy said, "They did a great job. They were really loud from the first point to the last. They helped a lot. You don't always get that for doubles matches and it was a really nice atmosphere to play in. I hope they enjoyed the match."
