Andy Roddick of America is playing in his first tournament since he lost in the third round at Wimbledon against David Ferrer. The American has 14-12 win loss record this year and won his 31st career title in Eastbourne. It was the 12th straight year Roddick has won at least one ATP World Tour title, tying Roger Federer as the only active players with this feat. Roddick is currently ranked at No. 31.
He faces countryman Michael Russell for a place in the semis of Atlanta Tennis Champinships.
Russel is the the oldest player in the main draw at 34 and has reached his first ATP World Tour quarter-final on hard courts since Memphis in February 2011. In April, he advanced to his first semi-final at Houston Open on clay.
Both players have met two times before and Roddick has won both of them.
TennisEarth Pick: Roddick to win in straight sets.
