Andy Murray reaches the last 8 at the French Open
Andy Murray beat local hero Richard Gasquet in a tough four set encounter to reach the quarter-finals of the French Open.

Andy Murray came back from a 1 set deficit to beat Richard Gasquet 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 in just under 2 and a half hours to reach the last 8 of Roland Garros. Murray started slowly but once he got into form, there was no stopping him as he dismantled his French counterpart in an emphatic way to seal his berth in the quarters.

Gasquet took the first set in 29 minutes after a rather poor set by the Scot, who hit 12 unforced errors and got himself broken twice in this set. With 6 winners and a decent performance in the set, Gasquet stuck to the basic and also served a very high percentage of serve(75%).

Gasquet faltered at the wrong moment as Murray remained aggressive, smacked 17 winners and a couple of aces in the second set that lasted for 56 minutes. He broke the Gasquet serve twice to thrash all hopes for the Frenchman, who did not have any chance to come back in the set once Murray started his onslaught.

Wow! Another almost perfect set for the Scot who wrapped this set in no time to take a vital 2 sets to 1 lead. 14 winners and just 2 unforced errors in this set helped Murray get a double break as he gave ONLY 9 points in this set. Also helping Murray were those crucial aces he fired, all at crucial points. He also won 93% of the first serve points too, showing how effective it is.

The fourth set was also wrapped in no time with Murray taking a double break cushion and wrapping the match in great fashion. Murray was at his relentless best, hitting the balls hard as well as with some finesse to keep Gasquet on the move and also guessing.
