Andy Murray ends Djokovic's unbeaten run, wins 2011 Cincinnati Masters
Injury and Andy Murray got the better of an almost invincible Novak Djokovic in the final of the 2011 Western and Southern Open, giving Murray his 18th career singles title.

World No.4 Andy Murray defeated top seed and three time major champion Novak Djokovic to lift the 2011 Western and Southern Open trophy, an ATP World Tour 1000 event, being played here in Cincinnati, USA.

Murray made a fabulous start to the match and broke Djokovic's serve with the help of his blistering returns of serve. The Serbian raised the level of his game and managed to break Murray back for a 3-3 square off, just to be broken in the very next game, thanks to Murray's power play and Djokovic's unforced errors, 20 alone in the first set. As the match progressed, Murray clinched the opening set 6-4.

Djokovic then received some on court treatment for a sore shoulder after which he lost two  more service games to eventually trail 4-6, 0-3 and finally decided to sit by the sidelines.

This is Djokovic's only second loss of the 2011 season after his French Open semifinal disappointment against arch rival Roger Federer. Djokovic has nine titles from the 2011 season out of which 2 are majors (Australian Open and Wimbledon) and five are masters seires triumphs (Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, Rome and Montreal).

Murray, the champion today, on the other hand, enjoyed his second title victory of the season after his triumph at the Queen's Club in June. This is Murray's seventh masters series crown and his 18th career singles title.

For the win, Murray collected the winner's check of US$ 496,000 and the valuable 1000 South African Airways ATP Singles ranking points.

With the commencement of the seventh masters series event of the season, the winner's title tally is as follows -

Indian Wells - Novak Djokovic

Miami - Novak Djokovic

Monte Carlo - Rafael Nadal

Madrid - Novak Djokovic

Rome - Novak Djokovic

Montreal - Novak Djokovic

Cincinnati - Andy Murray

Shanghai - TBP

Paris - TBP
