Olympic Gold Medallist Andy Murray will be at the Brisbane International yet once more this year, as he begins his 2013 season. The US Open champion has high hopes for 2013, after having a stunning 2012 where he clinched his first Grand Slam title to add to the Olympic Gold medal.
Murray stated in a press conference, “The Brisbane tournament has been an appealing choice to make this time round because I really enjoy being in Australia, it makes the travel a lot easier. I look forward to new experiences, good food and building some good memories there.”
It will be a good warn-up session for the third ranked Briton before he commences his hunt for the second successive Grand Slam trophy at the Australian Open in Melbourne. It will be a difficult task considering the three strong contenders; Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will be aiming at capturing another big four trophy but there is no doubt that the reining Olympics Gold Medallist has the ability to topple the top seeds on his day.
The World No.3 is a serious contender for an Aussie Open crown, as he loves the fast hard courts of Melbourne Park. His claim to the crown has also earned credibility because of his double triumph this year.
The event that is played at the Queensland Tennis Centre will start on 30th December and last until 6th January, 2013. There is still room for others to be a part of this event.
