Andy Murray: Why the Scot is the Favorite to capture the US Open

Never before has one win mattered as much as in the case of Scottish Olympic Champion Andy Murray. Christened as a choker, Murray has suddenly become a world beater.

Just a few months ago, his appointment of the great Ivan Lendl seemed to have no effect on the Scot, but with that win all doubt seems to have disappeared. Murray appears to be the real deal now.

His recent form has been nothing short of spectacular (barring his defeat to Chardy in Cincinnati), before his Olympic triumph Murray had got to within a set off victory at Wimbledon too. Rest assured, the Scot is confident and is definitely one of the favorites this year at Flushing Meadows.

Here are some reasons why Murray will win the U.S. Open and his first Grand Slam title.

I feel better. The ankle is not bothering me any more, which is great news. I'm already slowly starting to release the protection from the ankle because I feel more and more stable on it. There's no pain, which is great. I love Italy. I also speak Italian, so I feel like a local. I respect the choices of a crowd and who they support and I understand it's not going to always be me.

- Novak Djokovic has said that he feels no pain in his right ankle any more, and is raring to go at the Italian Open in Rome.
I don't think it's a problem to be honest. We are relaxed and don't play team sport and mix a lot, not with the girls, but with the guys and we're very open. What would happen in this event? I thought it was the right decision because, luckily for me, nothing really happened when I twisted the ankle during the match. It was a slight moment. I had good protection on my ankle. So right now that is the only positive thing that I look into, is that I didn't injure my ankle worse before Rome and Paris.

- Novak Djokovic of Serbia praised Grigor Dimitrov for handling him a three-set loss on Tuesday.
We all know he would deserve it. I mean, he's been so successful there in the last eight, nine years that everybody knows that he deserves it. Is it really going to make a huge difference if he's five or one. Not a whole lot, I don't think, at the end of the tournament. If I were to play him in the quarters or in the semis or any other player, it's not the finals yet. So the best is going to win. Rafa obviously has a great chance because of the great player he is on clay. I'm happy that they took a decision regardless of which one was the right one, just to go with something. Now there is peace and quiet around it again.

- Roger Federer has asserted that Rafael Nadal deserves higher seed at the 2013 French Open.
