Ana Ivanovic strolls into Round 2 at New York
Former French Open champion registered her 48th win of the year as she defeated American Alison Riske 6-3, 6-0 in the first round Tuesday.

The eighth-seeded Serb eased past Alison Riske in straight sets in a match which featured eight breaks of serve. Ivanovic made a shaky start as Riske broken her serve in the first game of the match. However, the Serbian quickly made a turnaround and took control of the match. It was a performance which suggested the former World No. 1 is getting back close to her best. The Serbian star bagged three titles in the year so far and recently re-entered to the top 10 in WTA rankings for the first time in more than five years.

"Last year has been an amazing change for me. I learned a lot about myself, about my goals, who I am as a person and who I want to be," said Ivanovic, a US Open quarter-finalist in 2012.

"I feel like I'm on the right path," Ivanovic said. Then she added: "Unfortunately the U.S. Open has always been the most difficult Grand Slam for me, but I hope to change that this year."
