With the last Grand Slam of the year a week away, let’s have a look at those women, who have a chance to give the home fans something to cheer about at the US Open.

These athletes have the burden of expectations of the entire nation and would be hoping to do well on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows.

Let me put it to you this way: I guarantee you that none of those four guys, as great as they are, want to see him in the quarters. Quite honestly, I would seed him number one. I'd seed him number one, actually, because I think he deserves that. I think the other players deserve it. Certainly, you can't even possibly question if he should be seeded ahead of David Ferrer, as much as I respect him, or for that matter even Murray on clay. Djokovic is the only one, given his accomplishments on clay, that you could possibly make an argument deserves to be seeded ahead of Nadal...I don't know that they (the Roland Garros seeding committee) are willing to change the seedings at their event.

- John McEnroe is against Nadal being seeded outside the Top-4 at the French Open, says he should be seeded higher to make it fair not only for him but his competitors too.
We all know he would deserve it. I mean, he's been so successful there in the last eight, nine years that everybody knows that he deserves it. Is it really going to make a huge difference if he's five or one. Not a whole lot, I don't think, at the end of the tournament. If I were to play him in the quarters or in the semis or any other player, it's not the finals yet. So the best is going to win. Rafa obviously has a great chance because of the great player he is on clay. I'm happy that they took a decision regardless of which one was the right one, just to go with something. Now there is peace and quiet around it again.

- Roger Federer has asserted that Rafael Nadal deserves higher seed at the 2013 French Open.
If you told me four or five months ago that after eight tournaments I would have won six titles from eight finals, I would say you are crazy. To win three Master 1000 and two 500 tournaments is more than I ever dreamed.

- Rafael Nadal reclaimed the Spanish No.1 spot by becoming the new World No.4, overtaking fellow countryman David Ferrer.
I am playing well and I am healthy, so I have everything to play for next week. This week was good to get an idea about what is working. Novak has beaten Rafa once in Monaco, so he knows how to win, but only Robin Soderling has beaten him in Paris. It will be difficult.

- Roger Federer remained positive about his prospects at Roland Garros and also admitted that Rafael Nadal would be a favorite going into the second Grand Slam of the year.
I mean it's been done before. I've done it myself, but you sort of have to beat yourself. The level (Serena's) at when she's playing well, I don't think anybody can beat her. Anybody, no matter great they are, everybody has bad days. Unless something happens that's unforeseen, it would be pretty hard-pressed to make an argument for anyone other than (Novak) Djokovic to beat him. It's similar to Serena. It's possible because maybe mentally he'll have a slight letdown because he's won it so many times, and maybe there will be that day where he has that off day.

- John McEnroe believes that compatriot Serena Williams and reigning champion Rafael Nadal are the hands down favourites at the upcoming French Open in Paris.
