Spaniard Nicolas Almagro dispatched World No. 8 Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia in straight sets with a 6-4 6-4 6-4 scoreline and secured his berth in the quarterfinal of the 2012 French Open.
The Spaniard took just a little over two hours of time to win this duel against the talented Serbian Tipsarevic, who did not look near to his best and missed out many easy opportunities. Almagro served really well as he mustered 77% points on his first serve – with the help of 9 aces and hammered 43 winners. The Spaniard converted 5 out of 12 break-points to win this duel easily.

Almagro made a fine start to the match but looked in some trouble in the middle of the first set. Just when it looked that the Serbian might get the better of Almagro, he came back and won the first set. The trend continued in the second and third-set also as Almagro thoroughly controlled the momentum and finally sailed home in straight sets.
Almagro will take on the winner of the match between Rafael Nadal and Juan Monaco – in the quarterfinals.
