At the Skitsar Swedish Open, Spaniard Nicolas Almagro is seeded second. His performance in the first set however was not quite second seed like, he lost that set 1-6 and was a match point down before he dug deep, battling hard like only a Spaniard can to overcome Czech Ivo Minar 1-6,7-6,6-4.
Almagro has already tasted victory at the ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tennis tournament in 2010 with a win over Robin Soderling. This was Minar's 15th match against the Top 10 and he was once again denied by Almagro. Almagro has already won two titles this year both on clay.
He now faces fellow countryman Daniel Gimeno-Traver, who was a 6-4,6-4 winner over Alessandro Giannessi.
In another match at the event, third-seeded Albert Ramos also overcame Kazak qualifier Evgeny Korolev 6-3,6-3.
