ATP announced the major changes that it will undergo in 2009 starting from January. In new season ATP tour and logo will be replaced by ATP World Tour.
ATP announced the major changes that it will undergo in 2009 starting from January. In new season ATP tour and logo will be replaced by ATP World Tour. Under new logo the governing body of men's professional tennis aims to rebuild the tour that will be easier for fans to understand and follow .With its new identity ATP hopes to attract most of sporting fans and presents the most exciting sports gala to them.
From 2009 the tournament categories will be renamed in accordance with rankings points it give to its winner. This will help fans to better understand the rankings table. The three tiers will be -
• ATP World Tour Masters 1000
• ATP World Tour 500
• ATP World Tour 250
At the end of season, top 8 performers will qualify for World Tour Finals to be held at London's 02 arena which will determine The Champion of World Tour of 2009
