With a semi-final spot up for grab, and a very strong chance to reach the finals, Britain's hope Andy Murray faces a very challenging opponent in the form of David Ferrer, the only Spaniard left in the tournament. With both players showing some sublime form, it will be enticing to see who comes out on top.
With Nadal out of The Championships, Murray would be considering his chances of making it to his first Wimbledon final. Presently ranked at No.4, Murray is a very smart player and reads his opponents and the situations well. With one title this year, Murray has not had good deep runs off late, his 26-9 win-loss record says it all. But, the way he has been playing is admirable, mixing his game well from the back and the front. Also with the crowd behind him, it adds as an extra boost for Murray. His previous round victory over Marin Cilic was a very impressive one, showing he delivers when required.
On the other side of the net is one of the best performers so far this year. Ferrer has a very impressive 43-8 win-loss record. He has already won 4 titles this year including one last week at the Unicef Open, on grass, showing he is not only a one dimensional player. Ranked at No.5 on the ATP Charts, Ferrer is really one of those players who can stiff competition to the Top-4. This match will be a tight one as Murray is a really good server and the balls tend to skid more. With Rafael Nadal out of Wimbledon, a lot of Spanish hopes rest on Ferrer as he now is the highest ranked Spaniard left in the draw. He has reached his first ever quarter-final here and would be hoping of going further. He has just lost one set en route to this match and is looking very commanding with this game, his previous round straight sets demolition of Juan Martin Del Potro proves it all.
The two have been on the opposite side of the net 10 times, with their head-to-head series tied at dead lock at 5 a piece. Though the last two times, Ferrer has had the better of Murray, this court is a different ball game all together. Who will take the lead this time, stay tuned to find out!
