Two players who played some really high quality tennis in this tournament face off with a loads at stake, Agnieszka Radwanska and Angelique Kerber will battle it out to reach their maiden Grand Slam final. Radwanska is ranked at No.3 whereas Kerber is ranked at No.8 in the rankings.
Radwanska has had a good year so far with her win-loss record standing at 38/9. She started the year ranked 8th in the World and kept climbing the rankings courtesy her good results. She is probably the best counter puncher in the women's circuit and draws errors form her opponents. She is a very challenging player to play on any surface, as her bag is full of tricks and one can not guess what she will do next. Her ability to turn defense into attack is also really good as most of the players fail to understand what strategy they should adopt to beat this Pole. More is at stake for Radwanska as she has the chance of becoming the World No.1, if she manages winning the Venus Rosewater Dish.
Her opponent today, Angelique Kerber has had a remarkable year so far. Kerber was the runner up at the recently concluded WTA event at Eastbourne. She has not faced a lot of resistance coming into this match besides her previous round three set marathon against countrywoman Sabine Lisicki, showing that she not only plays while leading, but also has ability to fight back. What illustrates her fantastic year is the fact that the German has the most number of wins this year on tour at 45.
Their head-to-head is tied at 2-2 with Radwanska winning their last encounter. Will it be the aggressive southpaw or will it be the cool Pole? Who will reach their first major final? Only time will tell!
