On paper, it was a David vs Golaith contest, and if there was some lingering hope in any section of the crowd, it vanished with a blink of an eye. As Serena Williams and Sara Erranitook stance on the Arthur Ashe, and started warming up, there was always going to be one winner.
Williams absolutely dismantled the Italian before she could even get her eye in, she won the match 6-1,6-2 smashing 38 winners to just 6 from the Italian.
The first set started with Williams on serve. Down 1-0 inside two minutes, Errani was already under pressure, and could not respond well as the hard hitting of Serena got on to the weak serve of the Italian. More trouble was to follow as the American broke the No. 10 seed's serve again to take a 5-0 lead. Errani finally got on the board after fighting hard in the sixth game, but Serena closed out the set holding serve in the seventh game. 18 winners came off the Williams racquet compared to just 3 from Errani's.

Errani held serve in the third game, but just could live with Serena at the other end. In the fifth game, Serena broke serve once more and it really was over by then. The World No.4 closed out the set at 6-2, reaching yet another Grand Slam final.
