Failed to re-ignite her magic on WTA tour after becoming the first Asian ever to claim a Grand Slam title by winning the 2012 French Open, Chinese tennis sensation Na Li will take on Canadian qualifier Eugenie Bouchard to secure her berth in the last sixteen at the 2012 Rogers Cup.
Gunning for her sixth career title, Na Li has emerged as another enigmatic contender on tour after her scintillating Grand Slam victory in 2011. The Chinese contender became a household name in Asia after that triumph but she failed to maintain that form. Now, looking resilient and determined to redeem her position in the WTA Rankings, Li has an ordinary 25-11 win-loss record for the season. She has not won any title in the new season and the way she has played so far in 2012, it seems that Li needs some luck and a few consistent wins to get some much-needed confidence.
Li’s opponent is teenager Canadian qualifier Eugenie Bouchard, who is currently ranked as World No. 237 in the WTA Rankings. The Canadian has been making a great progress in the new season with a 30-9 win-loss record.
This will be a first meeting between these two and experienced Li should win this contest in straight sets.
